Sarina Simoom
Sarina Simoom was started by frontperson, violinist, and guitarist Jenna Herbst in Washington, D.C. in 1995. They developed a devout following in the NYC/Philly/D.C. area and re-located to Denver, Colorado in 1998. Their music is best described as a cross between the minor key acoustic driven music of Swell and the vocals of Kate Bush and Nina Simone. Add a splash of Cat Power and Dirty Three with eclectic rhythmic influences and you have Sarina Simoom.

Their album thread bone bare was released in 2000.

"A luminous talent - a concise player whose elastic vocal style recalls Kate Bush, a more melodic Kristin Hersh."
